The English Department ensures that the needs and goals of the students are met effectively through a challenging curriculum based on critical thinking that provides opportunities to use modern communication technologies to improve the English competency while mastering technological skills. The curriculum addresses the religious, social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of students by providing activities and a variety of reading selections at all levels which address these areas. We have High Average, Honor and AP courses through high school and journalism course that publishes the English newsletter Sign Post. As a school we participate in the Archdiocesan Spelling Bee, Forensics League, Peace Essay competition and The Poetry Out Loud competition sponsored by the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture. School activities include a poetry jam, an English week, individual class dramatizations and work exhibitions.
