Digital Learning Center School Sisters of Notre Dame
The Digital Learning Center (DLC-SSND) is directly linked to the Information and Media Services Department of APS to attend all academic curriculum areas by reinforcing and supporting them through informational resources and professional librarians. Besides offering a great amount of printed and digital resources, this department coordinates different activities with teachers to strengthen library, research, information and critical thinking skills. These skills are necessary in order for the students to be successful citizens in the society of the 21st century. We believe in developing a love for reading and that printed or/and digital books are necessary to develop critical readers. The DLC-SSND has excellent technological resources to support this curriculum, such as interactive whiteboards, computers, and study and conference rooms equipped with multimedia and high speed Internet access. We are subscribed to databases (EBSCO/Grolier) so that students are able to access trusted and reliable information. We also have an automated electronic catalogue system that students can access, via the Internet, all resources available in the DLC-SSND. Besides the daily activities with the different departments, we also have a Library Week and Book Fair annually.
The Digital Learning Center of Academia del Perpetuo Socorro is integral to achieving excellence in education, and will contribute to the intellectual development of our school community. We prepare students to be effective information users, life-long learners and productive citizens that will contribute to improve effectively the quality of life of the society in which they live.
The Digital Learning Center for information and digital services provides the best possible support for Academia del Perpetuo Socorro’s mission of educational excellence, providing distinctive collections services, tools and spaces that enhance learning, teaching, research and critical thinking for, and in collaboration with, our school community.
The mission of the DLC is to support the curriculum and to ensure that students and faculty are effective 21st century users of ideas and information.
